Fuad is a recent graduate of McMaster University's Electrical and Biomedical Engineering program. He started out in health tech, but his passion for using software to solve hard problems led him to internships at Tesla, SpaceX, Wealthsimple, and the CIA. He just moved to San Francisco to start his career as a software engineer at Twitter, where he'll be building tools to combat hate speech and misinformation on the platform. At SpaceX, Fuad wrote Flight Software for the Mars program, including mission-critical support systems for Dragon and Starship vehicles. Fuad is also currently a Venture Fellow at Susa Ventures, a seed-stage firm that has invested in companies like Robinhood and Flexport, supporting them at their earliest stages. Susa is always looking for companies to invest in, so if you know one, reach out to Fuad! On the side, Fuad runs the Next Iteration Podcast, where he interviews leaders in tech and business working on innovative solutions to the world's hardest problems. He's had on entrepreneurs and engineers alike and grown the podcast to be in the top 3% of podcasts globally by listener count. When he gets a bit of a break, Fuad's favorite things to do are trying new food with friends, spending time in nature, or curling up with a good book (hit him up with your book suggestions!).
Hira Nadeem is currently pursuing a Master of Engineering Science in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Western University’s Institute for Earth and Space Exploration. She is a strong believer in making space for voices from interdisciplinary backgrounds in the Canadian space community. Hira is the former Operations and Co-Project Manager for the McMaster NEUDOSE cube satellite project, and a current Attitude Determination and Control Specialist for Western’s Ukpik-1 cube satellite project - both missions taking part in the Canadian CubeSat Project with the Canadian Space Agency. Hira strives to create inclusive opportunities for students across Canada who are passionate about space exploration. She has done this through her work as the former President of SEDS-Canada in 2019-2020, and recently, as the Co-Founder of the Zenith Canada Pathways Foundation, Canada’s first space fellowship program. Hira is an alumni of the Brooke Owens Fellowship program from the Class of 2020 and had the opportunity to intern at Planet in San Francisco, CA through the program. She hopes to one day work on an exploratory mission to Mars and use her background to help with sustainability on Earth.
When Faizan Ahmed isn’t reading niche fantasy novels or biographies of famous people he’s writing… code! He is passionate about exploring novel applications of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and believes that all data has stories to tell — if we’re willing to listen to them. Faizan Ahmed is a fourth-year Ryerson Computer Science student currently interning full-time at Geotab as a Product Coordinator, where he leverages his data analytics and front-end tech stack to advise, develop, and research new products and features to the. Faizan's expertise in the entrepreneurial space stems from his tenure at various startup incubators, notably the Science Discovery Zone, where he used Agile processes and Design Thinking as a in-house consultant to ensure partner success. In the public sector, Faizan works with A Voice for Transit, a public transit advocacy group focused on fostering increased public interaction in politics through active listening to the people and backing their voices with data-driven insights.
Christos is a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from McMaster University. He is currently a Research Associate for the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, contributing to an international team focused on improving life detection technologies. During his time at McMaster, Christos spent time working on the McMaster NEUDOSE CubeSat Mission, where he held the role of Mechanical Structural Team Lead. As well, he was an active member of the McMaster Engineering Society and McMaster Society of Mechanical Engineers. Within the space industry, Christos is particularly interested in the intersection of space and sustainability, Small Satellite Design, and the mitigation of long-term negative health effects in space. Outside of engineering, Christos likes to spend his time rock climbing, golfing, cooking, watching movies, and reluctantly cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Atif is a 4th-year Computer Science student at the University of Toronto where he was an active part of his campus community, serving as Vice President and President of the student union. He also helped create the robotics and AI club on campus and organized UofT trips to different hackathons such as YaleHacks and MHacks. In the last year, Atif has been working with Geotab, initially as Data Engineer and more recently as a full stack web developer, a role he continues to work in part-time as he finishes his final year of school. An avid sports lover, he spends his free time on the soccer field or the squash court and working with clients as a digital media consultant through his startup.
Ibrahim is moving into his 4th year of study in computer science at York University. He has over 1 year of experience working in the software industry; currently working at GEOTAB as a software developer intern. Heavily involved in university clubs including a robotics club where he is the software lead. He has been involved in hackathons both as the hacker (and winning a hack - Best Finance Hack @ Delta Hacks VI) and also a Judge (in Hack-the-6ix 2021). Ibrahim has experience in web development, frontend development, backend development, and backend development as well as robotics.
Ruben is a 4th year Computer Engineering student specialising in Software Engineering at Ryerson University.
