Hira Nadeem
Hira Nadeem is currently pursuing a Master of Engineering Science in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Western University’s Institute for Earth and Space Exploration. She is a strong believer in making space for voices from interdisciplinary backgrounds in the Canadian space community. Hira is the former Operations and Co-Project Manager for the McMaster NEUDOSE cube satellite project, and a current Attitude Determination and Control Specialist for Western’s Ukpik-1 cube satellite project - both missions taking part in the Canadian CubeSat Project with the Canadian Space Agency. Hira strives to create inclusive opportunities for students across Canada who are passionate about space exploration. She has done this through her work as the former President of SEDS-Canada in 2019-2020, and recently, as the Co-Founder of the Zenith Canada Pathways Foundation, Canada’s first space fellowship program. Hira is an alumni of the Brooke Owens Fellowship program from the Class of 2020 and had the opportunity to intern at Planet in San Francisco, CA through the program. She hopes to one day work on an exploratory mission to Mars and use her background to help with sustainability on Earth.
